Architect
Chiang | O’Brien Architects, DPC is currently seeking an Architect to work in our architecture studio located in Ithaca, NY. We are a dynamic firm located in the progressive city of Ithaca in the heart of New York’s picturesque Finger Lakes. Our focus is to provide high-quality design for higher education institutions of various sizes in the region, including Cornell, Princeton, and Syracuse Universities, Hamilton and Wells Colleges, and numerous SUNY campuses.

We are looking for a detail-oriented architect with four or more years’ experience working on projects in various phases—programming, design, construction documentation, and construction administration. We are a small firm that emphasizes design activity over management structure and so requires a self-motivated, problem-solving individual with the ability to work independently and to lead a design team. This candidate should have excellent communications skills, and expertise in design and detailing is critical. This is an opportunity to work in a professional, dedicated environment and maintain a work-life balance with competitive compensation and benefits.

The candidate will report directly to the principals; work with clients to develop programming and other project requirements; collaborate to develop designs from schematic through to construction documents; and participate in the construction phase, including field observations and inspections. Projects are developed from beginning to end in the BIM environment, where architects design and document buildings through digital models, in addition to the production of sketches, renderings for concept design and presentations, and physical modeling.

Benefits include a benefit stipend; health insurance plan; health savings account (HSA); flexible spending account (FSA); generous paid time off and holidays; paid family leave; reimbursement and paid time off for professional registration, AIA membership, continuing education, and LEED accreditation; 401(k) plan with 3% employer contributions, and company-provided mobile telephone. Chiang | O’Brien Architects is a minority-woman-owned business, and an equal employment opportunity employer.

Required Qualifications: Must have a professional degree in architecture (B.Arch. or M.Arch.), a minimum of four years of professional experience, and be a licensed Architect; must have strong computer skills, including digital imaging, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic Microsoft Office programs; and LEED AP is desirable.
