Architect / Project Manager

Chiang O’Brien Architects is an award-winning firm specializing in sustainable, innovative design, with a strong focus on the higher education sector. We are looking for talented and motivated design professionals to become part of our team. We currently have positions for an Architect / Project Manager with a minimum of 5+ years of experience. The role will involve working on projects from conception through construction. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects that range in scale from interior renovations to full gut building renovations and new buildings, from programming and feasibility through construction administration.
  • Maintain primary contact and interface with clients in collaboration with firm principals and serve as primary point of contact for consulting team, and construction team.
  • Maintain integrity of concept and design work.
  • Evaluate existing building conditions.
  • Manage construction administration services, including conducting site visits and coordination with the owner.
  • Coordinate timely responsive review and responses to submittals and requests for information from the construction team.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate design ideas.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work efforts between multiple disciplines and external consultants.
  • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, and other design communication tools.
  • Ability to document projects and detail designs in Revit.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and design skills, with the ability to work independently, and with large consultant teams.
  • Excellent project delivery experience, including construction documentation and construction administration.
  • Wide range of knowledge of architectural practice and construction in general.
  • Experience with sustainable design, resilient design and accessibility.
  • Proficiency in REVIT required.
  • Excellent English language communication and client interface skills.

Qualifications:

  • US Architectural licensure required, with 5-10 years of experience.
  • Professional architectural degree from an accredited institution required.
  • LEED Certification or WELL a plus
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employee sponsorship.

Salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000, subject to candidate’s experience, skills, and references feedback.

Designer

Chiang | O’Brien Architects, DPC is currently seeking a Designer to work in our architecture studio located in Ithaca, NY. We are a dynamic firm located in the progressive city of Ithaca in the heart of New York’s picturesque Finger Lakes. Our focus is to provide high-quality design for higher education institutions of various sizes in the region, including Cornell, Princeton, and Syracuse Universities, Hamilton and Wells Colleges, and numerous SUNY campuses.

We are looking for a detail-oriented designer with excellent communication skills to join our team and assist with all aspects of our work. We are a small firm that emphasizes design activity over management structure and so requires a self-motivated, problem-solving individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate will report with the project team to develop designs from schematic through to construction documents and participate in the construction phase, including field observations. Projects are developed from beginning to end in the BIM environment, where architects design and document buildings through digital models, in addition to the production of sketches, renderings for concept design and presentations, and physical modeling.
